Team prediction: The Yankees are in a prime position to win at least 100 games and contend for the World Series in 2020. After landing top free agent starter Gerrit Cole on a 9 year deal worth $324 million, giving them the front of the rotation guy they desperately needed. The Yankees have maintained virtually everyone from last year’s team excluding Didi Gregorius (Phillies) and Cameron Maybin (Free Agent). Last season, most of the roster was on the disabled list at some point last season and the team still won 103 games. The Yankees will certainly hope power hitting outfielders Aaron Judge and Giancarlo return to their 2017 form, DJ LeMahieu performs as well as his 2019 campaign, Gleyber Torres can continue to improve, and receive above average performances from the likes of Brett Gardner, Gio Urshela, Luke Voit, and Miguel Andujar. If the Yankees roster stays healthy and each player performs at the level they’re capable of, they could have four MVP candidates in Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, DJ LeMahieu, and Gleyber Torres. The Yankees could also have two pitchers competing for the CY Young in Gerrit Cole and Luis Severino. Cole was last year’s AL CY Young runner up last season while Severino came in third in 2017. The Yankees also have a couple pitchers who are capable of competing for Reliever of the Year in Aroldis Chapman and Zack Britton. This year’s Yankee team is one of the best rounded teams in MLB history and this season is certainly World Series or bust. I predict the Yankees go 108-54 in the regular season and at least make it to the ALCS. The key factor for this team’s success comes down to health. The 2019 Yankees sent a record number of players to the IL and will need to hope for the best in terms of health. THIS IS WORLD SERIES OR BUST!
