Akiem Hicks has Been Ruled Out Ahead of The Season Finale

The Chicago Bears disappointing season will come to an end on Sunday. They will be playing without talented defensive linemen Akiem Hicks, one of the best players on the Bears’ defense. Hicks and Mack have created havoc for opposing quarterbacks in the few games they’ve played together this season.

Hicks has been battling injury nearly all season beginning with a dirty game vs the Raiders in London. After the loss to the Raiders, he rested up during the bye week and returned against the Saints where he got injured once again on the 1st drive. This resulted in him being placed on IR for 8 weeks. Hicks returned for the crucial Week 15 matchup vs. the Packers. He played with toughness and grit battling an injury that he suffered early on. He’s been out ever since and Bears fans will not get to see him on the field again this year. Missing Akiem Hicks has brought many negatives although there has been one positive. 29-year-old DT Nick Williams had a breakout year and led the Bears in sacks for the majority of the year. One of the negative effects of Hicks’ absence is that Khalil Mack kept seeing double and sometimes triple teams with no one else causing major havoc. Also teams were able to run the ball on them a lot easier and more productively without him there.
