The Knicks have completed all 2nd round interviews with their head coaching candidates. This means that they should announce the new head coach of the New York Knicks in the next few weeks.
Previous rumors said that it seemed that the Knicks were aiming to find their coach by the end of July, but it seems like the Knicks may find their guy a little earlier than expected.
The Knicks have completely focused the month of July on this coaching search, as they even let all of their drafting scouts take a break this month, and they also pushed some of their draft interviews back.
It is not surprising that the Knicks are thoroughly completing this process as the last coach they hired was David Fizdale, who as we all know, was a huge disappointment. As the coach of the Knicks Fizdale went an atrocious 21-83. I am sure they do not want to make the same mistake again.
Just to refresh some of your minds, the list of coaches the Knicks have interviewed are:
- Tom Thibodeau
- Kenny Atkinson
- Mike Woodson
- Ime Udoka
- Pat Delany
- Chris Fleming
- Will Hardy
- Jamahl Mosley
And later additions:
- Mike Brown
- Jason Kidd
Right now, it still seems like Tom Thibodeau is the leading candidate, and it most likely will be him who gets the job, but many of these guys might land some assistant coaching roles so it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out.
This decision is obviously a very important one, so I hope the Knicks take their time and find the right guy. This is going to be Leon Roses’ biggest move to date, so hopefully, he can start his tenure on the right foot.
Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the end of July!
