    1. What’s your favorite pitch and why? “My favorite pitch would be my curveball because it keeps the hitters off balance.” Barnhart has a 4-seam fastball, 2-seam fastball, curveball, and changeup in his arsenal.

    2. At what point in your career did you know you had a good chance of getting drafted? “Honestly I was just humbled to get an offer for college, so when this all was happening I was just hoping for the best.” Hunter got offers from Arizona State, Cal Poly, and Santa Clara University and he hasn’t officially decided on whether he’s going to sign with the Rays or take the college route.

    3. What’s your favorite moment of your career so far? “My favorite moment so far was hearing my name being called on draft night.” It has to be an incredible feeling for any young athlete.

    4. Which MLB player are you most excited to possibly meet? “It would be a dream to meet Mookie Betts.” Barnhart grew up a Red Sox fan and got to witness the best years of Betts’ young career.

    5. What intrigues you the most about the Rays? “I like that they are known for developing good pitchers.” The St. Joseph HS grad would be in great hands in the Rays farm system.
