So, Woj just dropped another bomb. It seems like the NBA has finally figured out their plan. After many months of waiting for any sort of good news about the NBA, we have finally got it. The NBA is finally returning! Woj reported: “The NBA’s inviting 22 teams to Orlando: 13 Western Conference, 9 Eastern Conference. Eight-regular season games per team. Play-in for the 8th seeds. July 31-October 12. Vote tomorrow to ratify. The NBA’s back.” Surprisingly, the NBA is not taking an equal amount of teams per each conference, and instead is taking 5 extra western conference teams and 1 extra eastern conference teams, however, it does make sense because those teams were all 4 games or less back from the 8th seed.
So, how does any of this have to do with the Knicks? Well, first off, this means that the Knicks officially are not fighting for a playoff spot, and instead are fighting for the top lottery pick. As a Knick fan, I wanted to see this as our team, even if someway we made it to the 8th seed, would get swept by the Bucks, and that would hurt our draft spot greatly. Also, even though I think the Clippers will win the finals, we are rooting for them to lose their 8 regular-season games, as we have their first-round pick.
Honestly, I don’t even care the Knicks made it, I am just really happy that the NBA is finally returning! These were supposed to be the best playoffs in a while since there is no clear front runner, so I am hopeful it will live up to his name. Hopefully, the loss of the crowd and everyone playing at one court doesn’t affect the game too much. I can’t wait to see basketball once again in only 2 months now!
