The Chicago Bears have many problems on offense. One of those problems is the tight end position. Trey Burton was battling injury throughout the season and only managed 84 receiving yards this season. Also, disappointing 2017 2nd round pick Adam Shaheen has been injured a lot these past two seasons when he has played it hasn’t been great. They have a couple young tight ends as well, Horsted and Holtz. The solution is pretty simple, sign Eric Ebron.
Colts GM Chris Ballard said during the end of season press conference that they would not be bringing tight end Eric Ebron back. Ebron racked up 375yards and 3tds in the few games he played this season. He was dealing with an ankle injury before he was placed one season ending IR. In 2018 Ebron had a monster year racking up 750yards and 13tds, most of those touchdowns were in the red zone. The Bears struggled scoring touchdowns in the redzone all season, adding Ebron would definitely help. Not to mention Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has a great relationship with Ebron, they both played together at the University of North Carolina.
In conclusion, if the Bears want to fix their lack of red zone offense Eric Ebron is an intriguing option. He has 16 touchdowns in the past two seasons, most of which occured in the red zone. His friendship with Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky should help lure the tight end to Chicago.
